Watch The Throne

Damn Yeezy and Hov where the hell you been?

I don't think they left, but they are back with this awesome collaboration album. Released August 8, 2011. And it was popular, in the first week it sold 436000 copies. I have one of those.... Because to me Kanye West and Jay-Z are the kings of hip-hop (at least right now). But lets get to the music.

Kanye West shows once again that he likes to take different tracks, cut them in pieces, put them together and make awesome songs. Some people don't like this because they say - Oh he ruined my favorite song or he killed this masterpiece. But I think that this gives you the opportunity to hear some old songs with some new lyrics on top. And when I hear a hip-hop song with some samples in it I like to take my time and listen to the originals. So it makes me listen to some music I might not had heard before, which is great. But this is not like his latest solo album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" the beats are not as magnificent or as epic, they are more old-school hip-hop/rap like. More simple and classic, a little bit more Jay-Z like.

Jay-Z, H.O.V.A, Jigga "The Flow of Century" shows his ability to rap that I certainly don't hope was doubted. He has been around for a long time, and he is still hungry, he wants more, he as a lot more to say. On this album these two guys really show that they can write! Both serious and funny lyrics with some good punch lines like:

"Niggas hustle every day for a beat from Ye / What I do? Turn around gave them beats to Jay / And I'm rapping on the beat they was supposed to buy / I guess I'm getting high off my own supply"

or

"And I'll never let my son have an ego / He'll be nice to everyone, wherever we go / I mean, I might even make 'em be Republican / So everybody know he love white people"

The song that stand out to me is "No Church in The Wild", "New Day", "Gotta Have It" and especially "Otis featuring Otis Redding".

"Otis" is probably my favorite sounding track not necessarily the best lyrics but if we look at the song overall it is the highlight of the album for me at least one of them along with the other tracks I just listed.

Overall this shows that Jay-Z put out his hit collection a little early because some of the tracks here could have made it. And when these guys work together, magic happens. It started with Jays first Blueprint which Kanye produced several tracks on. And also Kanye's College Dropout where they made "Never Let Me Down" together. So this is my first review hope you'll like it.
